The objective of the PLANET project is to advance the European strategy for smart, green and integrated transport and logistics. Efficiently connecting infrastructure (TEN-T corridor network, Rail Transport Corridors) with new intercontinental ones (e.g. the future New Silk Road and emerging trade routes). Optimize the use of current and emerging transportation modes and technological solutions, while ensuring the equitable inclusion of all participants. To increase the prosperity of nations, preserve the environment and improve the quality of life of citizens.
Different technologies will be integrated in this project. IoT and Blockchain will be used for traceability and security in all transport and handling operations. Bigdata and Data Analytics techniques will be applied to evaluate the information of the different flows of goods. A forward-looking analysis will be conducted on how to improve the efficiency of the transportation network with new technologies such as 5G, Autonomous Vehicles and Hyperloop. We will use Digital Twin technologies to evaluate the impact of all these technologies on the transportation networks of the future.
The role of ITAINNOVA in this project is to lead the simulation tasks to evaluate the impact of new strategies and technologies in the different corridors. ITAINNOVA will create a digital twin. It is a simulation system that acts as a dynamic digital replica of supply chain processes, which will be integrated with other partners’ technologies for the evaluation of the impact of emerging trade routes and new technological concepts on transportation corridors. It also participates in the elaboration of design proposals for a new European and Global Integrated Green Transport and Logistics Network (EGTN).
