The objective of the project is the industrial research to develop a new range of bearings for new electric vehicles and the modernization and digitalization of FERSA’s production and logistics processes that allow the flexibility of operations to undertake the launch of the manufacture of these new components. Within the framework of the project and in cooperation with ITAINNOVA, the aim is to investigate new concepts and technologies of materials, embedded sensing, on-board electronics, signal processing, communications, energy harvesting, etc. that can be incorporated into the bearings in order to, on the one hand, meet the requirements indicated and, on the other hand, provide them with self-monitoring functions that allow them to interact with the control unit or with other vehicle systems to “inform” external variables, in addition to variables of the interaction between vehicle and road, or of their own operating status.
