PRESENTATION AND OBJECTIVES:

he LOCALVINO project is a multi-phase project with the main objective of developing a technological tool in the wine sector that will integrate the entire value chain of the sector through the digitalization and traceability of the product.

This project is part of the European strategy that is committed to innovation and digitalization and aims to: eliminate food fraud, optimize harvesting processes and logistics and improve product certification and control, providing the sector with a robust and reliable traceability system and, ultimately, improve consumer confidence through transparency and information and increase the value of primary sector products by reinforcing their typicality and uniqueness, promoting traceability from the field to the table.

To achieve this main objective, the project will work on three specific objectives:

– Conceptualize the design of a management application to provide accurate information on the origin and quality of wines based on the needs of the Control Boards.
– Investigate and implement a pilot in a controlled environment of an IoT Platform for efficient real-time harvest control to ensure product quality.
– Design and implement the pilot of a traceability system to the final consumer.

This project is absolutely unique and innovative and will provide the Spanish wine sector with a tool that differentiates it from all other wine producers, boosting the competitiveness and sustainability of a very important sector in our economy.

A number of key disruptive technologies will be used: cloud computing, big data and artificial intelligence, IoT and blockchain through which the entire value chain, including from the field to the end consumer, can be provided with all relevant information to guarantee the origin of products.

The project is planned in the following two phases:

– PHASE 1: the LOCALVINO prototype will be researched and designed to validate a technological tool for the wine sector that integrates the entire value chain of the sector through the digitalization and traceability of the product, from the field to the table.
– PHASE 2: research will be conducted on the design of a much more robust, reliable, scalable solution validated by the DEOs and Regulatory Boards. Real-time automatic integration of the data collected by the sensors will be achieved to report harvests to the regulatory board, which will have instant information on harvests.
