PRESENTATION AND OBJECTIVES:

The efficiency of industrial operations depends to a large extent on the energy efficiency of the facility and its energy consumption. Obviously, the energy consumption of the production processes is induced by the manufacturing time, which is also influenced by the performance of the equipment itself and by the final quality of the product. However, what is the optimum point of energy consumption to meet the quality and production time requirements that make the process economically and environmentally sustainable?
The digital transformation of the industry has emerged as a key strategy to answer this question. Thus, enabling technologies such as the Internet of Things for Industry (IIoT), big data, cloud computing and/or digital twins have become important players in this digital transformation. Unfortunately, the digitization of processes is strongly limited by: i) lack of connectivity between equipment, ii) the incapacity to act in real time on the proceedings and iii) the high cost of IIoT sensors in the equipment.
The industrial research proposed in the framework of this project aims to overcome these limitations through the new digitalization opportunities offered by the combination of physical sensors (IIoT) with virtual sensors (Digital Twins), and cloud computing.
This introduction to the project sets out as the general objective of the industrial research, the design and evaluation of an intelligence system based on IoT platform and digital twins of the processes to achieve the optimal points of energy consumption of the production equipment of aeronautical components.
