Presentation and objectives

FASD is focused on the development of specific sensors for the measurement of specific material and product properties – seals for sealing of car bodies – during the process of manufacturing to obtain data to feed the manufacturing model and to simulation, which allow to predict, in time, the results of the and in parallel with the manufacturing process, the properties of the product and process variables, which cannot be recorded online.

The development of these sensors and their integration with other existing sensors, in combination with the reduced-order models, will allow in parallel with the process, the results of the model are updated on a regular basis. continuously and therefore, monitor the production chain to ensure that the to be able to make real-time decisions on the variation of the process parameters and the adjustment of the final characteristics of the production, avoiding or minimizing deviations, ensuring that the main indicators remain within tolerance ranges and allowing the operators to reconfigure the line to meet the production in an agile way to manufacture batches with the specifications of different design. FASD is aligned with the Industry 4.0 concept, a new trend towards a technology-driven and technology-enhanced industry. several technological pillars: simulation, big data, systems cyber-physical and cloud, among others.

The objective of the FASD project focuses on the monitoring and adjustment in time of the the actual production process of sealing gaskets, including the process of mixing the materials (elastomers) of which they are made. by means of control algorithms based on control models of simulation and decision tools based on data analysis, to achieve production with “zero defects” or minimum variability. As a consequence of achieving this goal, the following will be achieved production flexibility will be achieved through the reduction of of the time that will need to be invested in the adjustment and tuning of the production processes and the parameters for the production of new designs of the same product, an increase in the efficiency of the production line and, ultimately, a reduction in production costs. production.
