CO-VERSATILE

PROJECT TITLE:

Adaptive and resilient production and supply chain methods and solutions for urgent need of vital medical supplies and equipment

GENERAL DATA:

Program: H2020
Reference: 101016070
Contract signing date: 10/08/2020
Date of execution: 01/11/2020-31/10/2022

PRESENTATION AND OBJECTIVES:

The CO-VERSATILE project receives more than €5 million in funding from Horizon2020, the EU’s research and innovation program, as part of the Commission’s €1.4 billion commitment to the Global Response to Coronavirus. The consortium consisting of 21 institutions from nine European countries joins forces with the challenge to innovate and deploy concepts for reusing and scaling up flexible and sustainable production methods and supply chain solutions to rapidly address European demand for essential medical equipment and supplies.
CO-VERSATILE aims to increase the adaptive capacity, resilience and flexibility of the European manufacturing sector, focusing on vital medical supplies and equipment, to help Europe improve its pandemic response and preparedness.
CO-VERSATILE relies on industry-driven research and innovation initiatives to provide demonstrators with a flexible 48-hour industrial response capability to cope with sudden spikes in demand for strategic products.
The project has four key objectives:

  • Provide a rapid response to the ongoing emergency situation in the reorientation and reuse of production.
  • Establish an accessible and democratic digital technopole for the redirection and reuse of production capacity to meet the needs of vital medical supplies and equipment.
  • Validate the correct operation of the digital technopole in 8 selected manufacturing configurations to demonstrate a flexible 48-hour industrial responsiveness.
  • Ensure the sustainability of the digital technopole and the multiplication of the services offered to the European manufacturing industry to achieve a wide replication.
