VARMOPYC

Project name

VARMOPYC – Reality Augmented and Virtual in the value chain of the manufacturers of Public Works Machinery and Deployment of Construction Solutions

Execution period

July 2017 to March 2018

File number: AEI-010300-2015-2

The project

This project will advance in to these needs by adding value to one of the most important assets of the company. where companies have invested the greatest amount of effort in the last few years. In recent years, the introduction of CAD/CAM tools: the use of models and the 3D of assemblies, assemblies and parts that they design on a daily basis.

Project objectives

Technical information on the project and its objectives:

The overall objective of the project is to reduce barriers to the creation and development of access to industrial-type digital content through the use of the use of Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) technologies. (VR), allowing them to be the engineering, pre-sales and sales departments, maintenance or security those who generate such content (3D models and other resources), add value (for their customers both internal and external), and external), reduce costs (by improving efficiency and productivity), and increase competitiveness.

To this end, we propose the development of the necessary tools to support three identified use cases:

1) Augmented reality in pre-sales and marketing environments

2) Augmented reality oriented to Tele-assistance in the field.

3) Virtual Reality through simulator for security protocols.

More specifically, the tools to be developed will focus on the following objectives:

  • Design of a common architecture that quickly and easily enhances the value of the 3D models and other know-how available to the engineering departments of the engineering and design companies;
  • Tandem development editor-viewer for Augmented Reality that allows the abstraction from the complexity of ad-hoc programming, of the different platforms, and of the different deployment (desktop or mobility) and display devices (AR glasses, VR glasses, 2D, 3D…);
  • Development of a system of tele-assistance in the field using general-purpose devices (tablets or mobiles) or specific purpose (AR glasses) for to provide remote support to operators in the field, enabling them to access to the procedural knowledge base, as well as to expert remote locations that the company may have at its disposal. company;
  • Development of a simulation system using state-of-the-art VR devices that allow the training of the security procedures by integrating different physics engines and dynamics to allow for high degrees of realism.

This The project is divided into 5 work packages and has a duration of 9 months. The tasks related to Project Management are performed by throughout the life of the project, from July 2017 to March 2017. 2018. The work packages are listed below and the leaders of each are indicated:

WP1: Definition of processes and their digital transformation (ANMOPYC)

PT2: Requirements gathering and architecture of the solution adapted to the requirements of the manufacturers of public works machinery (ITAINNOVA)

WP3: Augmented Reality solution development (ITAINNOVA)

WP4: Detailed development of solutions and validation with pilots in each case (ITAINNOVA)

WP5: Development and adaptation of use cases for construction and public works machinery manufacturers (ANMOPYC)
