Chemical and climatic laboratory

Knowledge of the composition and structure of materials is of great value in the design of new materials, failure analysis of products or components or quality control. In the chemical-physical, microstructural and climatic laboratory we carry out tests to characterize materials and coatings of different nature and origin (metals, polymers, cellulose and paper, paints…) to determine their chemical nature, structure and rheological behavior. In addition, and thanks to our climatic testing equipment, we analyze and evaluate their behavior and degree of deterioration under extreme corrosive, temperature and climatic conditions (salt spray, cyclic corrosion, corrosivity, UV radiation, Xenon arc and condensation tests).

Equipment

LECO CS-744 carbon and sulfur analyzer, PERKIN inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometer (optical), PERKIN infrared absorption spectrometer (FTIR), PERKIN thermogravimetric analyzer (TGA), differential scanning calorimeter DSC 6, UV visible spectrometer, several salt spray chambers, climatic chamber with xenon arc radiation, artificial aging chamber with UV light, several climatic chambers including a large “walk in” chamber (20.000 L), complete metallographic characterization equipment, rheometers.
