Execution date: 06/30/2022 – 04/29/2023

PRESENTATION AND OBJECTIVES:

The current linear production system based on extract, produce, consume and dispose directly contributes to the degradation of natural environments and does not meet the needs of a market that demands greater social and environmental responsibility.
In response to this challenge, the circular economy is a promising proposal that connects the eco-design of products and services, the recovery and revaluation of resources and energy, and the generation of innovative business models.
The sustainability of the circular economy model is based on minimizing the use of natural and energy resources, replacing them with those derived from the waste generated and the emissions derived from the production processes and the consumption of goods and services. Reuse and recovery, extending the life cycle of products as much as possible and improving the efficiency of processes and uses, facilitates innovation and the circularity of the economy and business, social and environmental competitiveness. It also contributes to achieving a diversified, eco-efficient and more resilient economy in the face of resource scarcity (raw materials, water and energy) and the effects of climate change.
The main objective of the CIRCULARMAQ project is to investigate solutions, based on technological innovation, that promote the incorporation of circularity criteria in the design, development and use of machinery.
In order to achieve the main objective mentioned above, the following specific objectives are proposed:

  • Design and validate a methodology for the design of machinery with ecological criteria that promotes the circularity of machine components and subsystems.
  • Implement digital technologies to promote machine recovery.
  • Establish objective criteria for establishing the level of recovery for subsystems and machine components.
  • Define measurement procedures for the operation and use of machinery in relation to its useful life and that of its components and subsystems.
  • Define procedures for manufacturing and disassembly of machinery for the maximum reuse of its components and subsystems.
  • Define procedures for the selection of sustainable and/or recoverable materials ensuring their functionality.
