Presentation and objectives

Ensure that each cab uses wifi to establish communication. between users and other cabs for an agile management of the service is one of the challenges of the Instituto Tecnológico de Aragón (ITA) with the company NITAX, within the European project CARCODE, in which companies and technological centers from France, Portugal, Spain and Turkey participate.

This project, which has among its milestones the achievement of several applications both for cell phones and integrated in vehicles, will culminate in 2015 with a technological platform capable of transmitting information between vehicles or, in other words, to achieve the concept of “car communicated”. To achieve this, CARCODE sets out three scenarios: safety, public transport and business.

In each participating country, a different scenario has been defined: In France public transport safety is addressed by means of a scenario in Portugal, the centralized control of the emergency system will be implemented in and a city parking scenario (guiding the users of the parking lot). efficient way to the parking spaces).

In Spain, getting both cabs and passengers to use wifi to intercommunicate and implement an electronic hitchhiking system for locate a car immediately in our environment and share. Finally, a solution to generate business will be implemented in Turkey during the driving of vehicles through marketing and advertising in roads and highways

David Escuín, engineer of the Instituto Tecnológico de Aragón (ITA) -attached to the Department of Industry and Innovation of the Government of Aragón- explains that with this project, we will obtain “modern vehicles as if they were four-wheeled computers, whose mechanic of maintenance requires more computer skills than just the skill traditional with the tools of that profession”.
