APLICANANO

The project APLICANANO, Synthesis and application of nanoparticles on polymeric matrices , has been financed by the Ministry of Science and Innovation, as part of the of the National Plan for Scientific Research, Development and Innovation (Plan Nacional de Investigación Científica, Desarrollo e Innovación). Technology 2008-2011.

Composite materials are born out of the need to obtain the following properties that rarely occur together, these are formed by a continuous matrix and the reinforcement material, have as their main characteristic the fact that they are that their properties are superior to those possessed by each component by separate.

According to the type of matrix and the characteristics of the nanoreinforcements (type, distribution, orientation, etc.) different materials are obtained compounds. In fact, the science and technology of nanomaterials has been lately revealed as one of the disciplines of greatest interest for the to obtain materials with new properties and functionalities.

This work focuses on the improvement of mechanical properties, tribological and photocatalytic properties of polymeric matrices as material base, taking advantage of the spectacular properties derived from the addition of nanoreinforcements. This analysis ensures the selection of the combinations of matrix and nanoparticle, as well as of the parameters that are the most efficient for obtaining the properties of the desired.
