DIGIZITY

Electric and connected mobility

Avanza, in collaboration with the Zaragoza City Council, will lead the largest PERTE R&D project for electric and connected vehicles. This two-year project aims to decarbonize, digitalize and automate urban transport with zero-emission buses.

Problem

Five other companies (IRIZAR, JEMA, HISPACOLD, TELNET and IDNEO-FICOSA) and three technology centers (ITAINNOVA, from Aragon; CTAG, from Galicia; and TECNALIA, from the Basque Country) will also participate in the project. This involves the integration of the value chain of one of the segments of the automotive sector: bus transportation. It thus brings together manufacturers of buses, engines, components and on-board systems, telecommunications equipment and a large fleet operator.

DIGIZITY is part of Zaragoza City Council’s comprehensive model aimed at creating a zero-emissions city and promoting sustainable mobility with the transition from private vehicles to public transport. Mobility 4.0 arrives in the Aragonese capital with DIGIZITY, placing it at the forefront of the future, sustainability and innovation through artificial intelligence.

Zaragoza will be the first city to enjoy a pioneering project, both nationally and internationally, testing more than 50 products, systems and subsystems, aimed at achieving cleaner, more efficient and comfortable public transport.

“We want to strengthen our commitment to building the mobility of the future through innovation projects such as DIGIZITY. A project that will help us develop a more sustainable, safe and connected mobility.” – Valentín Alonso (General Manager of Grupo Avanza)

Results

Mobility 4.0 arrives in Zaragoza thanks to DIGIZITY, placing it at the forefront of the future, sustainability and innovation through artificial intelligence. Zaragoza will be the first city to enjoy a pioneering project, both nationally and internationally, testing more than 50 products, systems and subsystems, aimed at achieving cleaner, more efficient and comfortable public transport.

Today, improving mobility has become a major concern and Avanza wants to continue to provide increasingly sustainable solutions. This is why research and technology development play an important role in this project, which is why the company led by Valentín Alonso has the participation of the most relevant companies and institutions in the mobility sector.

The objectives of the project are clear: use of smart and autonomous vehicles, H2 project, 5G and Wifi6 connectivity, technological infrastructures and smartcities, artificial intelligence and state-of-the-art solutions for users.

The DIGIZITY project has been funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU through the call for the year 2021 ‘Sustainable Automotive Technology Program’, within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan promoted by the Center for Technological and Industrial Development (CDTI). The total budget is more than 9 million euros, a public aid of 5.4 million euros and a duration until December 31, 2023.
