Irene López Bosque joined ITAINNOVA’s Digital Technologies Group in May 2022 within the INVESTIGO program, where she leads and collaborates in R&D projects that combine artificial intelligence, data analysis and software development for digital health and retail. An engineer specialized in deep learning, she brings experience in NLP, computer vision and creation of mobile applications, as well as in the technical management of projects with academic and industrial partners. Her research objectives are articulated in four complementary axes.
Natural language processing in social media: apply transformer models and NER techniques to identify disease mentions in Spanish, providing a tool to help monitor public perception and epidemiological evolution in real time.
Human activity recognition and gait analysis: to develop decentralized deep learning models that, based on inertial sensors and vision, discriminate patterns associated with sarcopenia and cognitive decline, enabling early health interventions.
Modeling and cleaning of geospatial data: improve the prediction of people flows and detect anomalies in mobility datasets oriented to the optimization of points of sale, driving strategic decisions in the retail sector.
Digital health based on wearable devices: design iOS/watchOS applications that capture physiological and movement variables, integrating the data into cloud platforms for analysis and traceability, with the ultimate goal of promoting non-invasive therapies that take advantage of brain neuroplasticity. With this transversal line of work, Irene López aims to consolidate reliable, replicable and user-centered AI solutions that facilitate both epidemiological surveillance and personalized attention to healthy aging and business competitiveness.
