Improvement of  \nconventional adhesive bonding and soldering techniques by means of the  \nincorporation of new materials and surface treatments, and to  \nthrough optimized processes and designs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\n  As an example of the current activity in this field, the ITA is  \ncurrently participating in the European project SAFEJOINT ? Enhancing  \nstructural efficiency through novel dissimilar material joining  \ntechniques?, financed by the European Commission, and in which it leads  \nsome of the main lines of work of the project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\n  ITA&#8217;s work is providing a much better understanding of how they work.  \nadhesives and how joints should be designed to achieve the best results.  \nbetter results from a functional point of view. This will allow\n  This technique can be used in more and more demanding applications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\n  As a bonding technology, adhesives are becoming more and more widely used for  \nused in many sectors such as the automotive, railway and\n  aeronautics. Other sectors in which they are also used in the form of  \nis notorious is in the construction and manufacture of windmill blades  \nwind farms. This is because the adhesives provide a number of advantages.  \nadvantages that, in many cases, clearly position them as the best  \noption when resolving a joint: they are characterized by the following characteristics  \nhigh resistance to corrosion or degradation even in harsh environments.  \naggressive, they allow to obtain continuous and &#8220;unseen&#8221; bond lines.  \nfrom the outside, they provide the possibility of achieving watertight connections  \nand, by means of a correct selection of materials, they make it possible to achieve\n  high energy and vibration absorption capacities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\n  Finally, there is a multitude of application examples where the  \nevidence that the lightest solutions often result from the  \ncombination of different materials, through the integration of  \nand using them in such a way as to make the best possible use of their  \nproperties.
