A 10% improvement in efficiency can lead to\n EU cost savings of 100 billion euros. Despite these\n promises, interestingly only 19% of EU mobility and \nlogistics companies employ Big Data-based solutions as part of \nvalue creation and business processes.\n\nThe TransformingTransport project will demonstrate in a realistic, \nmeasurable and replicable way the transformations that Big Data will bring to the \nmobility and logistics market. To this end, \nTransformingTransport validates the technical and economic feasibility of Big \nData to reshape transportation processes and services and to \nsignificantly increase operational efficiency, deliver an improved customer experience \nand foster new business models.\n\nTransformingTransport will address seven pilot fields of major \nimportance for the mobility and logistics sector in Europe: (1)\n Smart Highways, (2) Sustainable Vehicle Fleet, (3) \nProactive Rail Infrastructures, (4) Ports as Smart Logistics Hubs \n, (5) Efficient Air Transport, (6) Multimodal Urban \nMobility, (7) Dynamic Supply Chains.\n\n\nThe TransformingTransport consortium combines the know-how and \nsolutions of Europe’s leading IT and technology providers, together with the expertise and experience \nof Europe’s leading industry players in the field of \nmobility and logistics.\n\nTransformingTransport will pursue the following main objectives:\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n
Objective O1 “Piloting”<\/strong>: Execute effective large-scale \npiloting and specific demonstrations of the \ntransformative character that existing and very close \nto market Big Data technologies can bring about in the mobility and logistics sector, \ncovering all relevant transportation modes.
