Experiment: <em>Cloud-based simulation for optimal rubber injection molds<\/em>.<\/li><li><strong>File number:<\/strong> 609100.<\/li><li><strong>Subject<\/strong>: FoF-ICT-2013.7.1 &#8211; Application experiments for robotics and simulation.<\/li><li><strong>Call for proposal<\/strong>: FP7-2013-NMP-ICT-FOF.<\/li><li><strong>Funding scheme<\/strong>: CP &#8211; Collaborative project (generic).<\/li><li><strong>Date of award<\/strong>: 12\/13\/2016.<\/li><li><strong>Dates of execution<\/strong>: 07\/01\/2013 12\/31\/2016, extended until 03\/31\/2017.<\/li><li><strong>Project website:<\/strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.eu-cloudflow.eu\">http:\/\/www.eu-cloudflow.eu<\/a>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Presentation and objectives<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>\nCloudFlow is intended to provide a Cloud infrastructure  \nComputing based on existing technology and standards that will allow  \nSMEs that develop and commercialize software to offer to  \nand future customers with new cloud services over the course of the year.  \nthe entire engineering and manufacturing chain.\n\nCloudFlow covers computer-aided design and manufacturing (CAD) and computer-aided manufacturing (CMM).\n  \/ (CAM), in particular, computer-aided engineering (CAA), computer-aided  \ncomputational fluid dynamics (CFD), including pre- and post-processing, and  \npost-processing, the simulation of mechatronic systems (Functional  \nDigital Mock-Up (FDMU) and product lifecycle management (PLM).  \n(PLM), including data archiving.\n\nWithin CloudFlow, our experiment focuses on the development of  \na cloud-based simulation tool for process replication\n  of rubber injection molding.\nRubber injection molds are typically designed on the basis of the\n  experience and with the support of some numerical simulations. This  \nhas serious limitations when optimal designs are needed.\n\nTo overcome this problem, the computational workflow in the cloud\n  will exploit a procedure based on an adaptive DoE, simulations and  \nand data mining techniques for the development of automatic CFD and data  \npost-processing. This CloudFlow experiment is intended to reproduce a\n  rubber injection process. Given a 3D design of the mold and its  \nheating system, the workflow will analyze the parameters of the heating system and the\n  process such as rubber mass flow rate and pressure at each process such as rubber mass flow rate and pressure at each  \npower point, as well as the heating power. With this  \ninformation, duly processed in the CloudFlow workflow,  \nthe end-user will be able to minimize injection time, fuel consumption, and  \nenergy and rubber product defects.\n\nThis experiment is driven by the need of the rubber sector.  \nNumerical techniques currently being used to aid design\n  of the rubber mold do not comply with the manufacturer&#8217;s requirements on\n  terms of accuracy of the material model, characterization of the material, and  \nmaterial model and optimum design time. We will focus here on  \nthis last point.\n\n<strong>Objective<\/strong>. This experiment aims to  \nprovide manufacturing end-users with opportunities to  \nto evaluate beneficiaries in terms of improving the quality of their  \nquality of parts using CAE design procedures in the cloud.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Participating entities<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>\nThese are the partners participating in the experiment:\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>MIJU S.A.
