SoftSlide technology will have a positive impact \non the seals industry generating around <strong>3315M per year of<\/strong> <strong>energy<\/strong> <strong>savings<\/strong> for <strong>end users<\/strong> of hydraulic and pneumatic components. \n\n<strong>Energy losses <\/strong> caused by <strong>friction in dynamic joints in the rotation<\/strong>, <strong>linear motion<\/strong> and <strong>oscillation of devices<\/strong> (e.g. motors, valves, air compressors, accumulators&#8230;) represent <strong>25% of the total energy consumed<\/strong>. In addition, the effect of friction on dynamic seals causes <strong>damage to the seal surface<\/strong> over time, thereby <strong>reducing its service life<\/strong>.\n\nAlthough it is common knowledge that it is possible to obtain low-friction dynamic seals by <strong>special designs<\/strong> and by etching <strong>micro-patterns<\/strong>\n on the seal contact surface (contact area with the \nmoving mechanism), mass production of today&#8217;s seals \ndoes not incorporate this important step.\n\nTo obtain <strong>low-friction<\/strong> dynamic seals, it is necessary that these micro-patterns are individually engraved, <strong>joint by joint<\/strong>, in a separate downstream process, once the seal has been manufactured. This <strong>considerably increases the cost<\/strong> and <strong>limits the production of<\/strong> low friction dynamic seals, making it impossible for the end user to include this step in their production system.\n\nSoftSlide has created a <strong>mass production process<\/strong> that transfers these micro-patterns during the <strong>molding stage<\/strong> to obtain low-friction, high-performance dynamic seals.
